Obituary for Laura Kerby

Laura Ellen (Pruitt) Kerby, aged 69, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2018. She passed away at her home in Springfield, Missouri after a short illness.

Laura was born to Robert and Goldie (Trower) Pruitt the youngest of five children, in Richland, Missouri on January 16, 1948.

She graduated from Stoutland High School, Stoutland, Missouri in 1966 and attended Springfield Business College. She retired in 2008 from a career spent in the clerical field.

Having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a young girl, she was an active member of Hamlin Baptist Church in Springfield for many years. The members of her Sunday School class, the deacons, and her pastor were very special to her, a big extended family.

Laura was the loving, devoted matriarch of her family, and is survived by her son, Curt Hilliker of Springfield and her grandson, Ben Hilliker of Ozark. She is also survived by sister Mabel Addison and husband Henry of Springfield, brother Lloyd Pruitt and wife Kathryn of Lebanon, sister Ruby Harper of Monett and sister-in-law Geraldine Pruitt of Lebanon along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her eldest brother, Robert Glen Pruitt.

Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield, Missouri 65806.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Monday, January 8, 2017 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Killingsworth officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missions Fund c/o James River Church, 6100 N. 19th Street, Ozark, Missouri 65721. Or Hamlin Baptist Church, 1942 W. Farm Road 102, Springfield, Mo 65803.
